 Dr. Kazuhiko NOZAWA

Senior Engineer, Global Business Headquarters, NTT Advanced Technology Corporation.

He received the B.S. degree in chemical engineering, the M.S. degree in physical information engineering, and the Ph.D. degree in electrochemical engineering from Tokyo Institute of Technology, Tokyo in 1982, 1984, and 1996, respectively.

Since joining Nippon Telegraph and Telephone Public Corporation (NTT*) in 1984, has mainly been engaged in research on semiconductor physics at NTT laboratories.
( *)NTT was privatized in 1985.)

After working at NTT laboratories, he retired from NTT in March 2011 and joined NTT Advanced Technology Corporation (NTT-AT).

He is a member of the Japan Society of Applied Physics (JSAP).

 Mr. Satoru (Rick) Oyama

CEO of Grossberg LLC
Satoru “Rick” Oyama has established a consulting firm “Grossberg LLC” since October 2017. He was in IHS Markit Technology as senior principal analyst for Japanese research, and responsible for analysis related to rechargeable batteries and semiconductor-related industries. Prior to joining to IHS, he was in Fujitsu Semiconductor Limited as general manager, where he was responsible for market research and alliance strategic planning. He also helped to spin out the semiconductor operation from the Fujitsu parent company.
Prior to joining Fujitsu, Satoru worked as a senior analyst for equity research at ABN AMRO and for Lehman Brothers. There, he covered the semiconductor industry from companies such as Hitachi, Toshiba, Mitsubishi Electric, NEC, Fujitsu, Nikon, Advantest, Tokyo Electron, Sony, Panasonic, Sharp, Sanyo and more.
In the years 1999 and 2000, Satoru was ranked as the No. 4 industrial analyst ranking according to the Nikkei survey. Satoru has also spent significant time at Gartner/Dataquest and Tokyo Electron Limited.
Satoru has a master’s degree in Software Engineering from Keio University.

 Mr. Akihiro Tsumura

Editor-in-chief, Electronic Device Industry News
He graduated from the Faculty of Economics, Kansai University in March 1995. Joined Sangyo Times Co., Ltd. in March 1999.
He has been the deputy editor since 2007 and the editor-in-chief since December 2009 as a reporter for the electronic device industry newspaper (formerly the semiconductor industry newspaper), which is a specialized newspaper in the electronic device industry.

 Dr. Andy Sellars
    - Strategic Business Development Director at Compound Semiconductor Applications Catapult

Andy developed the business case and strategy for the £50m Compound Semiconductor Applications Catapult, submitting it to HM Treasury in 2015. He led the Catapult start-up from 2017, representing the Catapult during roundtable discussions with the Prime Minister and Secretaries of State from UK Government. The Catapult has grown rapidly since 2017, with around 100 employees, working on projects valued at over £100m.

Andy regularly gives evidence to Parliament as an expert witness, most recently on the Telecom Security Bill.

Andy joined the Catapult from Innovate UK, where he delivered £15m of strategic investments in electronics, smart materials, and compound semiconductors. His early career was spent leading R&D teams with Rolls Royce, Spirent PLC, and Abbott Diagnostics, and he was prime consultant on film and TV lighting for James Bond and Sky News.

Andy holds an Executive MBA from Glasgow University and a research doctorate from Strathclyde University.

Chris Meadows Director CS connected Ltd / IQE plc.

Chris' career in electronics and semiconductors started at British Telecom Research Laboratories before joining a new joint venture between BT and US based DuPont in 1986. Chris was part of the founding team at Epitaxial Products International Ltd (EPI) in Cardiff in 1988 which became IQE plc in 1999 following the merger with a US competitor and a successful IPO. Cardiff headquartered IQE is listed on the London Stock Exchange’s AiM (IQE.L) and comprises multiple operations in the UK, Asia and the USA. A science and engineering graduate, Chris also holds an MBA and has held a number of senior management positions within the IQE Group. Chris is also a Director of CS connected Ltd, representing the world’s first compound semiconductor cluster that is rapidly evolving across South Wales and the West of England.

Robert Harper programme manager for Power and RF technologies

Robert Harper received a BSc (Hons) in Chemistry from Swansea University and MSc (Distinction) in Advanced Semiconductor Processing and Device Technologies from Southampton University. He has >36 years relevant experience in semiconductor device manufacturing, process integration, materials research and business development roles from working at Inmos, ST Microelectronics, IQE and Lam Research before joining CSC.

Robert is programme manager for Power and RF technologies and works with CSC’s industrial and academic research partners to shape and deliver their GaN technology and product roadmaps.

Dr Mike Jennings - Associate Professor, Engineering Swansea University

An interest in advanced power devices led him to undertake a Ph. D, which he was awarded from the University of Warwick, Coventry, U.K., in 2008. The manufacturing-focus of his research allowed him to establish a strong industrial network. This naturally progressed to a five-year Senior Science City Research Fellowship, where he provided business assistance to numerous industrial partners from the semiconductor, power electronics and energy industry sectors. His main research interest lies in the field of new semiconductor materials for power electronics applications. His current research interests include silicon carbide and gallium oxide power devices and the manufacturability of advanced silicon MOSFETs and IGBTs. He currently holds a Royal Academy of Engineering Industrial Fellowship (3 years), which focusses on bringing the latest power semiconductor devices through to commercialisation. The fellowship position is based at Newport Wafer Fab, however Mike spends much of his time performing collaborative research across the South Wales Compound Semiconductor Cluster. He is also the principal investigator on a collaborative (industrial and academic partners) €8M Horizon 2020 cubic silicon carbide project, leading the power devices theme. Mike has served on many international committees including the European Conference on Silicon Carbide and Related Materials (ECSCRM) and European Power Electronics (EPE).
